Hunting

Black Bear Hunting

If you are new to Maine black bear hunting, we want you to know it gives you with the thrill of a lifetime. The heart pounding adrenalin rush when you encounter your quarry is something only those who've been through it can put into words. No matter if you're in a tree stand or in a ground blind, your heart and blood pressure are going to crank up a notch or two.

Moose, Deer, Partridge and Turkey Hunting

Lunksoos Camps is located in prime moose, whitetail deer, bear, grouse and turkey habitat in the Katahdin Highlands, a vast tract of wooded wilderness.

We are located in excellent moose habitat. We see them frequently and our hunters have always taken their trophy.

Note: Hunters compete by state moose lottery for a moose license, and are assigned a district in which to hunt.

Lunksoos Camps is located Wildlife Management District 10. On the map, we are in T3 R7 (Township #3, Range #7.). See map of WMD 10. Lunksoos is also near District 11, if you win a moose permit for that district.

Your birthday determines in what week of spring you can hunt turkey in our wildlife management district (WMD 10). One bearded turkey is allowed per hunter, and hunting hours are from 1/2 hour before sunrise to 12 noon, local time.

All other big game trophy hunts are unrestricted as to place.

You can take advantage of our fantastic hunting location for a self-guided hunt. Lunksoos Camps provides the great combination of comfortable, private cabins within first class hunting and outdoor recreation territory.

We are on a river, the East Branch of the Penobscot, and near two major streams. The combination of water, cover, and plentiful food for game animals make this area an exciting place to hunt.

Maine's Latest Wildlife Report
